Which schools offer their MBA graduates the best chance in the current job market?

Released today, the QS Global MBA Rankings 2021 assess the MBA offerings of over 250 business schools worldwide. The rankings are also split up into regions: Europe, Asia, Oceania, Latin America, US and Canada.

One of the indicators included in the ranking is the employability indicator, revealing the top business schools for landing a job shortly after graduation.

By collecting data from QS surveys and schools themselves, the ranking gives a comprehensive outlook about the institutions employers prefer to hire from.

10) The University of Chicago Booth School of Business

Kicking-off our top 10 is the full-time MBA program from Chicago Booth, which is ranked joint 11th in the world. An impressive 95 percent of Booth MBA graduates accept a job offer within three months after graduating, with 3 percent starting their own business.

The 21-month Booth MBA is structured around three of four courses per quarter and gives students a list of 13 concentrations to choose from and tailor their curriculum. These include accounting, business analytics and behavioral science.

9) HEC Paris

Next is the fifth-best MBA program in the world at HEC Paris. The school received a 95.2 for employability, with 92 percent of graduates landing a job after three months and 8 percent starting their own business.

The 16 -month curriculum includes a fundamental stage and a customized stage, designed to give students both the foundations of business management and the opportunity to develop their preferred skills.

8) Columbia Business School

In eighth place is the full-time MBA from Columbia Business School (CBS). The institution has a high reputation among top employers, earning its MBA program a high employability score.

The CBS MBA includes over 200 electives, access to over 4,000 graduate-level courses and career-focused concentrations for students to choose from, including accounting, finance and entrepreneurship.

7) INSEAD

In seventh place is INSEAD’s accelerated 10-month MBA. 92 percent of INSEAD MBA grads land a job three months after graduation and 7 percent go on to be entrepreneurs.

Conducted on the school’s two campuses in Europe and Asia, the program is highly international and is built around 14 core courses and a customizable curriculum with over 75 different electives.

6) Harvard Business School

Next is the originator of the MBA – Harvard Business School (HBS) – which received an impressive employability score of 97.2.

The school produces over 80 percent of business school cases sold globally, which MBA students will read and work on throughout their degree. 88 percent of HBS graduates accept job offers within three months after graduating.

In joint fourth place for employability is Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, which received a score of 97.5.

The 21-month degree offers a plethora of global learning opportunities, including 37 exchange programs across 20 countries. Students can customize their curriculum with seven optional majors, including economics, marketing, and finance.

=4) MIT Sloan School of Management

Next is MIT Sloan, whose full-time MBA program is ranked third-best b-school in the world.

The 24-month program focuses on ‘Action Learning’, meaning that students can develop management and leadership skills hands-on, helping companies solve real-life business challenges. The school is well-renowned for its faculty’s research excellence and received a near-perfect score for thought leadership.

3) The Wharton School

In third place with an employability score of 98.1 is The Wharton School. An impressive 94 percent of Wharton graduates accept offers three months after graduating, with 4 percent starting their own business.

The 21-month Wharton MBA includes 18 majors (including accounting, finance, and marketing) and a recommended summer internship program.

=1) London Business School

The first school in tied first-place is London Business School (LBS), the only British institution on the list, with an employability score of 98.3.

The school’s location is ideal for those hoping to land jobs at global companies. With a presence in four major business hubs – London, New York, Hong Kong and Dubai – students can benefit from a highly international network.

=1) Stanford Graduate School of Business

Sharing the top spot with LBS as the best school for employability post-graduation is Stanford Graduate School of Business, the newly crowned top b-school in the US and globally.

Stanford’s MBA program is based around entrepreneurship, with 15 percent of graduates starting their own business shortly after graduation. Throughout their degree, students can customize their curriculum with courses at other Stanford schools, electives, seminars, or a joint or dual degree.
